Welcome
OpenPodcast.org was a dynamically generated podcast to which anyone at all can contribute. It expects "short" segments (under 5 minutes is suggested) which will be included in the feed as they are received. Think of it as an audio wiki or time-shifted unmoderated call-in show. It ran from October 2004 to June 2006.
Our only guidance as to content:
- NO COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL - if you submit copyrighted material, you will be permenantly banned from further submission to OpenPodcast.org
- Be Creative
- and of course Have Fun.
How do I listen?
Subscribe to our feed in your iPodder app. Be forewarned that due to the open nature of the OpenPodcast, it should be considered potentially not safe for work.
You can also check out the archive linked at right.
How do I contribute?
Sorry, contributing is no longer enabled.
The system provides two means of input from the public.
- Email your segment as an attached wav or mp3 file (mp3 is preferred if possible) to submit@<thisdomain>.org (be sure to replace "<thisdomain>" with "openpodcast"). When submitting an mp3, you may include title, author, and comment ID3 tags. These will be preserved when the file is distributed through OpenPodcast.org.
- Call (206) 350-OPEN (sorry, no toll-free number yet) and record your segment
Within 5 minutes of submitting your segment it will be included in the feed.
Who's Listening?
~5500 subscribers.
Who's behind this?
OpenPodcast.org is the concept of Ben Tucker. It was launched Oct 16, 2004. I'd love comments and suggestions about the idea. Add a segment to the Podcast or drop me a line at ben <AT> btucker.net
Future Plans
- Implement folksonomy tag system with custom feeds.
